How to avoid a bad date? Picture this:

You enter a restaurant sit down when they immediately bring out what THEY think you should eat. That's the way things work, right? They size you up and do a quick assessment on your eating habits and presto--you've got food. McDonald's does it, Burger King is about to start. And I hear Maialino in the Gramercy Park Hotel in New York has been doing it for a while.Alright, so they don't do that...restaurants don't read your mind, in fact--they have menus to tantalize you with and prepare your taste buds to have an excellent adventure. But how would you feel if that were the truth?

Would you like someone doing the ordering for you?Or would you still like to continue making your own decisions based on what's right for you? Why expect that when dating?

How to avoid a bad date is to not get upset when your date doesn't read your mind and doesn't serve up the perfect experience? It may be worth slipping into the bathroom and texting your BFF for an escape plan but let me ask you, before you label this a "bad date," "Did you order?"Did you participate in the process?  Avoiding a bad date isn't just sitting back and letting someone else do all the talking or selecting where to go, it's about equal participation. How was he to know that you didn't like rodeos--especially when he asked for your input and you responded, in that coy way that you do, "What ever you want big boy!" Well, now you'll find yourself going to a rodeo and smelling cow poop all night long.

Life is about choice and if you don't make one, someone will make it for you--the same goes for dating.

The next time you're out on a date and things aren't going well, ask yourself, "Did I want fries with this date?"
