Who the Hell Are Your Haters?

Lately, social media has become very visual and thanks to Facebook it’s become easier to share and post photos with text that convey sentiments–moody, angry, hungry, sexy and the ever popular; horny. You’ve encountered it yourself, a hilariously written card with a vintage image of a woman dressed in a victorian gown slouched across a chair with her arm hiding her shame-ridden face as she cries out  how vodka has betrayed her once again and she can’t find her panties.

And there’s nothing wrong with this–I like the humor, in fact, it’s always while I’m at work, “working” when I find these laugh out loud postings but to everything that exists that gives you warm fuzzies there has to be the counter part that gives you the polar opposite feeling of “yuck,” you know the feeling, like when we found out Rihanna and Chris Brown are dating again, yeah, that feeling. And those type of cards, pics, or graphics are not geared toward the general public, they are meant towards one group, “The Haters.”

People who have lost weight are no longer posting their diets or exercise routines, but instead are sending out messages to their “hateration.” I see people who’ve received promotions and have gone from being a McDonald’s cashier to a Popeye’s Chicken clerk posting messages to their haters. New authors who just got published have twisted their messages of appreciation to their fans and are now only addressing the hate.

Really?

My questions are, “Who the hell are your haters?” Why are you wasting your time and spending all of your efforts on this agenda that is clearly non-effective? What do you hope to gain from these “to my haters’ campaigns”? And it seems from all the messages you’re posting, you might need the “haters” more than they need you because it gives you something to do. Instead of putting your energy on them–realign yourself with YOU. Pull yourself out of that game and throw some positive thoughts back into the Universe. Those haters games are so 2012, and 2013 should be all about your personal progress that will hopefully inspire someone. I can’t help but wonder, in a time when we all think we have haters,  shouldn’t we focus on the one thing we know we have for sure, the ability to rise above?
