Nando & His First Presidential Voting Expereince

I set my cell phone alarm for 5:30 am today and made sure I programmed the alarm sound to something annoying--so I set it to a Mariah Carey song. The alarm went off and I quickly jumped into the shower. What? I wanted to be nice and shiny when I voted.

Why is this year so important to me? Because it's my first time voting! I became a U.S. citizen about three years ago and voting for my President excites me! As it should you too! (Notice the over use of exclamation points?)

I arrived at the school and was signed in. Then I received the shocking news, our voting machine was broken and I'd have to cast a paper ballot. (maybe the secret does work?) You see, I was glad the machine was broken because of all those e-mails flying around explaining how you could screw up the vote. Those e-mails made me extremely nervous and they didn't allow me to sleep well. I had nightmares. Not of screwing up my vote--but of Oprah not being happy. (Which is practically the same thing)

I have to admit, I got all emotional and in between the tears and my heart swelling up with joy, I was about to break into a patriotic medley, (like a Dixie Chick song) when a rude Jewish volunteer woman with white hair (she's in the video) showed up and began to make rude remarks about the bagel shop down the street. Oy! Then she was confusing the people who were about to vote:

Jewish Volunteer Woman: Oy! I can't give you a paper ballot because it's a legal document.
Voter: Why would I want one?
Jewish Volunteer Woman: I'm just saying.
Voter: But why would you tell me?
Jewish Volunteer Woman: Listen honey, I'm just doing my job. Is this fun for you? To question me? Is this how you get your kicks? I don't know? It seems like she's having fun. What do you think?

Not all the machines were broken, just mine. SO she was going up to EVERYONE and confusing them. You think she was sent by the McCain/Palin people? Things that make you go hmmmm?

But I did it!! I Baracked the VOTE! Nando voted for Barack Obama. I carefully filled in my little oval and voted! I must admit that when it was time to vote for the other roles, I confidently voted for all the minority names I could pronounce. Isn't that how the founding fathers did it?

What was your voting experience like?
