Leona is a picky when is comes to dog clothes. She’s no ordinary fabric kind of gal and we don’t blame her, we ourselves can be particular with the clothes we wear so Leona also being picky is something we understand. She and I have a few things in common, one is always running hot. It could be 50 degrees outside and we want the air conditioning on and a fan hitting our face so it’s no wonder that when it comes to fabrics–we both like light soft breathable fabrics that are of course, stylish.
I’m often asked what the best hair products for men are and it truly depends on your hair type. I believe there is no “one size fits all” answer. I can’t say, this will be the only hair product you need but I can help you how to choose the best hair product for your hair style–if you’re hair is similar to mine: thick, naturally curly and virtually indestructible and you like to showcase it.

For me, the best men’s hair wax is FX Molding Wax Pliable Hair Wax. (I do not get paid by them but I’m willing to be a hair spokesperson and you’ll see why–so if anyone can hook me up) I have naturally curly hair and like the majority of people with curly hair — I don’t like it, which is why I get keratin treatments to help smooth it out, prevent frizz in the summer, but it also makes it easer to maintain. Depending on the length of hair, Keratin can cost anywhere from $150 – $350 per treatment and it lasts 3-4 months.
After Keratin, I still use a round brush and blow out my hair straight. But I only do this once a week. The dirtier my hair gets, the better it styles. Ironic, right? FX Molding Wax (it’s less than $5 on Amazon) is the men’s hair product for thick hair because it magnifies your hair’s thickness and you have a crown of luxurious glory on your head that says, “Watch out world, here comes a guy with style and on trend.”
Extractions, exfoliation and facials are all part of my regimen and when I find a product(s) that delivers on its promise (and especially the ones that don’t) I want to share it with you all.
So when the owner of Mission B contacted me asking if I’d like to sample and review (I received no compensation for this) one of the products on the website, I jumped at the chance and chose a product by Blissoma Solutions called Smooth A+ Correcting Serum because as of late, my skin has declared war and has been revealing red blotches in certain areas on my face and truthfully, it was throwing my selfie game off.
Smooth A+ has 13 whole herb extracts to provide pro-active protection to acneic and troubled skin. The serum is like a smoothie (DO NOT EAT) made of rose oil, carrots juice, and niacinamide targets blemishes and inflammation while balancing. It intensively regenerates skin using collagen synthesizing flavonoids and beta-carotene.
I received the product and quickly put it to work. The label declared the serum was for oily, acne, irritated and discolored skin and because my Benedict Arnold-like skin checked off three of those boxes, I knew I had made the right choice
Week one passed but I saw no difference. I still looked like I was auditioning to replace the Target logo. Week two consisted of me running to the mirror every morning yet it left me disappointed with a broken spirit. Now I know how Jennifer Lopez felt when she learned her boy toy Casper Smart was caught at a popular seedy gay establishment but he was only “asking for change for a $20.00.”
At this point I contacted the owner of Mission B and in disappointment I told her I was following the directions on the box but I wasn’t seeing any improvements; I wanted Mario Lopez skin! “Because the brand doesn’t use harsh chemicals and relies on botanicals for its properties to work, it might take a little longer for results,” she explained. She rooted me on and so I kept using it but had lost a little hope.
By week three my red blotchy skin was a thing of the past. I noticed my skin was all one tone and it just looked healthier. I mean, it’s not a miracle serum taking away ten years of face abuse (drinking little to no water, no SPF, and nothing to hydrate it) but it restored my tone and my face appeared super hydrated. My husband began using it (against my will as I’m a greedy little monkey when it comes to beauty products) and his skin type is oily and he began seeing results only after 2 weeks. His skin didn’t shine as much in the T-Zone.
I recommend this product as I saw results from it but because I saw results a little slower than my husband, I’d say stick with it if the changes aren’t happening over night or as immediately as I was explained–it’s driven by botanicals and not harsh chemicals. And for those of you wondering — my selfie game is back on fleek!

In our last one-bedroom apartment in Brooklyn, we were inspired by the vibe in Miami so if you ever walked in you saw a bright colors and plants everywhere. At least I hope it was Miami-styled and not some Wizard of Oz technicolor over-the-rainbow nightmare. We have since moved into a 3-bedroom apartment in Brooklyn and had the opportunity to start fresh with a blank canvas; literally. All the walls were white and there were so many of them–we were actually intimidated by so much space. Maybe that’s why it took 3 months to finally do something about them…and the final verdict was to leave them white, but in a creative way that would allow us to nest yet live in a sophisticated space.
It’s official, winter is here for the majority of the country and we’re feeling the icy coldness of mother nature. With the cold comes along sipping hot chocolate, wearing sexy layers to keep warm, and for some people, seasonal affective disorder (SAD) which is a type of depression that drains your energy and makes you feel extra moody—which is basically me after Thanksgiving diner. At the Get the Most out of Light event sponsored by Citizen, that I attended, a design expert showcased how to use color and light to combat the winter blues which was extremely valuable.
