Nando & The Popular Game

The name of the game has always been "Who is the most popular?" I first learned about this game in school, and I quickly found out I wasn't even allowed in the competition. I didn't have the brains, the brawn, or the looks to fit into the "cool crowds," much less be considered popular. Ah, to be Jennifer Walker (the most popular girl at Crockett Jr. High) with her golden high-lighted locks, sweet sincere smile and legs that went on for days. Oh, I hated her; yet, kept a special place in my heart for Long-legs Walker, as I copied off her papers during 9th grade geometry class.

Do I have any of these qualities now? Yes, two out of the three; I'll let you guess which two I'm referring to. Thanks to Mayra Segovia, the "Hair Goddess, owner of Mayra's "f" Studio I'm able to stroll down the streets of Manhattan with ease, confidence and a "Rico Suave" flare that I once lacked. Today I'm going in for some much needed attention: some key lights, a Japanese-infused moisturizing treatment, and her signature "twist n' lock haircut. The goddess has her work cut out for her; no pun intended.

For the entire month of September, I'll review one of her salon products from the Mayra Segovia line and feature it here on my blog. I will call it, "My Month with Mayra." So stayed tuned on how my hair transforms itself from dead, limp and pathetic (sounds like the last guy I dated) to healthy, radiant and vibrant.

Mayra may not help me regain my past school year popularity, but she'll assist in establishing my cool hair status in 2008--eat your heart out Jennifer Walker.
